Epilepsy or something else?

I have been diagnosed with refractory complex partial epilepsy. I take AED medications and they have cut down on the severity and number of seizures but have never had full seizure control. My first question is if people usually feel 'normal' in between episodes of seizures or do you have some other symptoms that always linger and make you feel unwell? Since being diagnosed with epilepsy, I have recurring bouts of other strange symptoms that have not been alleviated by the AED drugs. The symptoms that are always present to some degree are cognitive impairment, balance issues and fatigue. The only thing that changes is the severity of these symptoms. The cognitive issue is often mild but I have bouts of it getting really severe and disabling; when it gets severe, my speech get slow with a lot of word-finding. My balance is always off, but I will have bouts of time when I cannot walk straight and must hang onto something to stand. I cannot close my eyes while standing at all because I just tip over. One issue that comes around once in a while is numbness and impaired proprioception. The numbness happens on my face and in my legs and then last month for the first time I started feeling a numb strip across my stomach that also feels very tight (like a tight sash is tied around my waist). All symptoms become worse if I get overheated. Are these symptoms part of epilepsy? As a side note, I was given prednisone for bronchitis and there has been an improvement in all of the symptoms, including the seizures. Does anyone have any idea what the heck is going on. Does it sound like this is all epilepsy related or that maybe something else is going on as well?
