driving with epilepsy

Tue, 01/19/2016 - 21:47

I have Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy. I have had lots of myoclonic jerks, and two tonic clonic seizures. I have been taking Topamax and my seizures have been under control since 2011.

I was driving tonight and I blanked out. I ran a red light and turned left in front of several cars. I snapped out of it and pulled around them, but I could have caused an accident. This isn't the first time I've "blanked out." I will be sitting in the bathroom, and not remember walking there. I will be in the middle of a conversation and forget everything we've been talking about. At times I walk around like I'm in a daze, and I have to force myself to do what I need to get done because it's like my arms and legs won't move. This has all been getting progessively worse lately.

Does this have something with my epilepsy or am I going crazy?

Call your neurologist and do

Call your neurologist and do discuss these issues with him What you described could have been seizures especially if they are becoming more frequent and stronger
