Classical Migraine OR Epelipsy?

Sun, 03/11/2007 - 14:27
My sister, 10 years old, expriences siezures and some times after it, disorders for a short time in her body such as walking problems, lisp in speech etc. CT scan shows a network of nerves concentrated at one place, that is, a big/major nerve becomes smaller(not gradually). Some Doctors say, the electrical impulses thus cause the siezures due to this innate defect in the nerves. However some doctors think, she is suffering from a classical migraine. She is being treated on Tegral ( Carbamazipine) for 5 years and Epilium Syrup for about 2 and a half years. I know this is not an appropriate forum for discussing issues for migraine, but I need help. This is an open discussion and a case for everyone, Doctors or Individual persons. Your kind advices would alleviate my and my family's anguish. Muhammad Junaid

This item is pretty heavy but might be of use. This one is called Visual phenomena and headache in occipital epilepsy: a review, a systematic study and differentiation from migraine (www.john-libbey-eurotext.fr/en/revues/medecine/epd/e-docs/00/01/AE/00/article.md?type=text.html) It talks aout f differentiating between seizures and migraines, and somehing they call Migralepsy and something different called epilepsy-migraine . Hope it helps
