behavior outburst

My son is 17 and has mental retardation and severe epilepsy. He is a mild mannered young man who is very easy going. Lately he has severe behavior outburst in the morning. This morning he hit and kicked at me pulling my back out of place. He doesn't seem to remember the episode after it happens. He has brittle epilepsy and is on Keppra, Lamitcal and Lyrica to help treat the seizures. Is this a part of epilpesy?
