What if...

Hopefully, I will be getting a presurgical workup at UCLA in the next several months, but what if I don't have any seizures on the VEEG? Even if I have intracranial electrodes? Has anyone ever had surgery without a seizure on the VEEG?

Hi, I seriously doubt whether pre-surgical tests will continue if you don't have seizures during the VEEG. My experience was I had the VEEG, and seizures. They injected a special dye during a seizure and then did SPECT scans. They injected ink during the seizure and then again 24 hours later (on major meds to keep me seizure-free) to see focal point. It was then that the epileptologist met with neurosurgeons, radiologists, and some other honchos to discuss surgery candidacy. A few days later, they scheduled the rest of my tests: MRI's, PET, IQ, and something else. Then, I went in for intracranial montitoring. The doc's still weren't sure whether or not I was a decent candidate. Day after my surgery, I had my seizures giving them exact seizure focus and *then* they decided to follow up with the resection the next day. I know it's tough to think in the moment. Not to worry about what if this does or doesn't happen. Believe me, I fully understand! But, try to be patient. I hope that you get answers soon, take care! Heather
