WHAT EXACTLY ARE COMPLEX PARTIALS?????
Tue, 03/11/2008 - 02:17THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAS PERPLEXED ME FOR QUITE A WHILE NOW. WHEN I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH COMPLEX PARTIALS, I WAS TOLD THAT CPS INCLUDE ABSENSE, SIMPLE, PARTIAL, CP, AND T/CS. YET, WHEN I LOOK AROUND, PEOPLE WITH COMPLEX PARTIALS ARE ALSO STATING THAT THEY HAVE THE ABOVE, BUT DON'T SEEM TO CONSIDER THEM COMPLEX PARTIALS. I DON'T GET IT. ARE DIFFERENT DOCTORS GIVING OUT DIFFERENT INFO TO US OR DON'T WE GET IT? I HAVE ALL THE ABOVE, AND ACCORDING TO THE DEFINITION FOR T/CS GIVEN HERE, I HAVE THEM ALSO..........WHICH I WAS TOLD IS PART OF HAVING CPS.
I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR WHAT OTHERS ARE BEING TOLD. AND I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW IF MY DOC WAS INCORRECT OR IF THERE REALLY IS A MISUNDERSTANDING AS TO WHAT CPS ARE. IF I CHECK IT OUT HERE, THEY ARE NOT ALL INCLUSIVE. HMMMMMMM SHOULD ASK SPIZ......... THANKS, JAN

HI QUIRKY, I AM GETTING MORE CONFUSED. IT SEEMS LIKE YOU AND SCOTT ARE SAYING TWO DIFFERENT THINGS ABOUT SIMPLE AND CPS, AND MY VERSION IS POSTICTALS THAT LAST MORE THAN 3 HOURS WITH MEDS. FROM WHAT SUN SAID, AND FROM THE DEEP BRAIN ZAPS I HAVE FELT ON BOTH SIDES, I ALMOST THINK I MIGHT HAVE BOTH KINDS. I AM STILL CONFUSED THOUGH. IS THAT ALL THAT HAPPENS TO YOU? NO STOMACH CRUNCHES THAT YOU MIGHT NEED BUT DIDN'T ASK FOR, NO AUTOMATISMS, (DON'T REMEMBER HOW TO SPELL THAT) NO ABSENCE, ETC? CAN THEY BE DIFFERENT FOR DIFFERENT PEOPLE? I DON'T KNOW IF I HAD ANY T/CS. I HAD MANY TIMES WHEN I FOUND MYSELF IN ANOTHER ROOM, ON THE FLOOR, HURT, AND NOT KNOWING WHAT HAPPENED. OH, IF YOU REMEMBER 'VINNIE BARBARINO' "I AM SO CONFUSED"!.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SURGERY, IF YOU HAVE IT. I HEAR IT IS FRIGHTENING AND EXCITING AT THE SAME TIME. GOD BLESS, JAN

Hi Jan,
I suffer from CPS all the time.
CPS are seizures where you loose some awareness and become confused. Whereas simple partial seizuresyou do not loose awareness, you are fully aware of having a seizure.
CPS is not when you are having a grand mal. CPS affects only one part/section of the brain but it can lead to a grand mal for some people. When I was little before taking any medications, I had CPS and grand mals. But with the medications I have less of the grand mals now but still have the CPS.
I am hoping to have surgery this year. I have finished all my tests that are invloved and now I'm waiting to see if it's possible for me to have the green light as such.
Hope that helps.
