Tue, 11/24/2015 - 13:04
Hi everyone my name is Nancy and Iam a mom of a 3 year old boy who he means the world to me.
So sibnce last year my son started with whats called a Febrile Seizure and Dr's said he would be fine after that incident but truth is that ever since than he started getting worse,my son started having seizures more constantly,we were constantly in the Hospital till the doctor finally decided to get an EEG AND MRI done the MRI came out to be normal and the blood tests as well but the EEG came out to be abnornal, the doctor didnt say much but said that was what was causing the seizures and put him under Keppra a med that is not good at alll for the side effects on a little one.A few weeks ago my son started having some new seizures that I have never seen and from what I've been searching they seem to be ABSCENCE COMPLEX SEIZURES if thats right so now my son suffers from two different seizures PARTIAL COMPLEX OR FOCAL and this new one I just mention above,My 3 year old has been constantly getting 4 to up 9 seizures in less than 24 hrs and doctors wont admitt him in the hospital and just keep increasing the KEPPRA.My son its been having all this side effects and seems to not be him anymore,Im desesperate and willing to do anything for my little one if anybody can give me an opinion or a name of a good place to get my son into so he can be seen by a good doctor.

You are not the only mother

You are not the only mother that has been having problems in geting their childern what is needed. Like Amy Jo posted you posted different seizures. An absence seizure is basically a petite mal seizure. The person in one looks like they are daydreaming. A focal seizure may look like that too. But then focal seizures can land in other areas. Simple partial, complex pattials. You need to know that it takes some time for the body to get used to the medication. Meds for seizures are not like aspirin where once it is taken it goes away after a few hours. SIde effects do happen but after some weeks those side effects do go away.  As Amy jo posted get a primi neurologist and one that will listen to you and answer your questions.By all means if you find one you like keep a good relationship with him/her. If you do many questions may be asked and amswered in a phone call. Dosage changes need to be tried before a medication change because changes can make things worse since you have to titrate on and off medications which can mean too much medication in the body. To much medication is just as bad as too little.Keppra is becomming the go to medication for seizures and it does work oon many types of seizures. With it you don't have to worry if it will counter other medications your child may need to take. That is one thing all the doctors need to know. All the medications that are taken in a day which include over the counter meds. Yes even diatery meds and vitimins
