Tonic Clonic - now absence?

Tue, 10/23/2007 - 13:50
Hi all, waiting for a call back from the busy neurology office, and thought I'd check in with you folks. My son (age 13) had 3 tonic clonic seizures several months ago and was treated at Children's Hospital in Boston. He had all of the tests and they found an abnormality in one front lobe that was causing his seizures. He's been on Keppra since and aside from my anxiety everyone seems to be doing OK. No more seizures - we think. Today he was describing being out of it and having some tingling in his legs (an aura to his big seizures). Everyone has times where they are "spacing" and don't hear someone talking to them and have to have a question repeated, and that's what I thought was going on - he is 13 after all. But evidently these episodes - there have been a few over the last week and a 1/2 he says - are "worse" and "not like that." Could these be absence seizures? Is it typical for a person (with epilepsy) to have more than one kind of seizure? TIA!
