Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and the art of listening:

Wed, 10/31/2012 - 10:14

I have been diagnosed 3 years ago with Epilepsy. I have yet to find a Nuerologist who can listen to my symptoms, prescribe the correct tests, and medications. I have been to 4 nueros, 2 epileptologists who still do not know which type I have. I do. It is not that hard to diagnose.  My seizures/symptoms/ pt history/aura ect are textbook!!!! I had an abnormal eeg when I was diagnosed by the trauma center nuero. But now these other Nueros refuse to listen to me or any of their own professional literature!! They all just want to repeat the video EEG, which ,according to the.. literature is useless in predicting TLE.  These nuros are faculty for a huge medical center and are involved with research, clinical trials. If they are so perplexed by making a diagnosis, why not research ?I am on an assistance programand  appealing disability. I hate to say this, but I think that may be the reason for the indifference> I sure hope not. How do I get the best test to finally diagnose me?

Do you mean medical assistance programs that are less than the Medicaid (and/or Medicare) services before a Social Security/State-Delegated disability determination???
