Telemetric Study?

Thu, 10/12/2006 - 23:41
Hi Guys, What is a Telemetric Study? Apparently I have to have a 6 hour one. Is it just like a EEG? Does it measure the same stuff as the EEG? I can't seem to find any info on Google about them. Ta!

I went in and tried to find information on the internet myself and am wondering if it is like a visual eeg (see www.telemetricsinc.com) and they have all sorts of camera equipment where they will be recording you.

"Telemetry" is a technology that allows the remote measurement and reporting of information of interest to the system designer or operator. The word is derived from Greek roots tele = remote, and metron = measure. It would appear from this abstract, that a "telemetric study" (in your case) would be viewing you from a remote site while you are having an EEG and sending the data back to the doctor for interpretation. http://www.neurology.org/cgi/content/abstract/31/3/298

I dont know why they have given it a strange name. I called to make the appointment today, and they said its just a sleep EEG. Strange, huh? Maybe it's a Australian term, instead of a US term. I ponder. lol
