Stress & Seizures?

Fri, 11/10/2006 - 20:51
I was diagnosted with epilepsy (because people actually saw me have the seizures) but test even week long test at good hospitals never revealed anything... However, after a divorce, I have been seizure free for about 4 years. Without meds. Then SMACK! Here I am again. Grand mal seizure. WHY!?! I thought I got this behind me! I live with my fiance' who is a diabetic and on a kidney/pancreas transplant and I just feel like I don't have time to be having seizures right now. I would love to hear other storys so I don't feel so alone right now. My family is a couple hours away and I am going to be having another eeg this week but am not sure it is going to make any difference. I spent a week in a hospital hooked up with zero results. That "weird" feeling that kinda sticks around after you have a seizure...I had forgotten what that was all about...I wish I could still forget!! I really hate this feeling!! Lonely

Hi :) Now, would you mind if your fiance nixed his insulin? News flash: epilepsy is ,for the most part, (with several childhood 'exceptions' that are outgrown) a 'lifetime' condition.. no different than diabetes. I hope you were not driving a vehicle, as you put your life at stake (and that of others) via not being medicated. ~sol You are fortunate you wern't driving when this happened. Be positive. And, search out an epileptologist ( = a neurologist that focuses on the over 40 types of seizures) To find one in your area, go to epilepsy.com.. top of the page.. third from the left. Wishing you well :)

hey lonely, stress can give you seizures bad I know and if your haveing a eeg look out if your on med's it might come back fine because mine all did. my dumb doctors gave me thenm and didn't take me off them. I haven't had a seizure from when I was 13 years old until 26 in oct when I was driveing my car I was so upset because my boss was putting me down because of my weight then bam I had a seizure. so ya they can come back anytime . I had talked to a profesor at rush hospt. in chicago and he told me that if you where little and had the Grand mal seizure you can have the less bad ones when you get older. but sometimes the grand mal will stick around for along time . or if you never had them before stress opens something up in your brain and mmm pop's it . ' with my seizure I can't remb stuff and find the words to talk hope I helped little amy il
