Strep and Seizures - tonsil removal
Wed, 04/18/2012 - 12:03Hi,
Our son has been homebound with 20-25 tonic seziures daily. He is twelve and has had E for 5 years. He had atypical sbsence seizures for nearly 4 1/2 years. Just this last summer after a bout of strep he started having grand mals and tonic seizures. He has failed over 15 meds and is currently receiving IVIG every three weeks. he gets a lot of relief from this but it is temporary. Last week our oldest came down with strep and was verry sick. I think he passed it to our youngest and He went from having 1 seizure a day (after last IVIG) back to 20 - he was not diagnosed with strep, but his blood test show he is fighting something. Has anyone seen releif with having their tonsil removed to help the immune system? We are considering this since the ENT said he had "cryptic tonsils".
thank you
Amy
