Self testing for dilantin levels

Why isn't there a self test to get a dilantin level?
Diabetics can test themselves and adjust their mediication accordingly.
Why can't there be a self-test for those of us with epilepsy to measure dilantin levels?
For 36 years we have had to make appointments with doctors to get  our son's dilantin level tests  Then we have to wait days after the appointment to get the test answer.  Meanwhile, more seizures take place during the waiting time.  They  could be avoided if we could self test for dilantin levels.

I'm just guessing that the reason is it would cost quite allot of money to invent it since they'd have to create a specific machine to check for each differing AED. Where when you have diabetes they're checking for the same substance (glucose) with everyone who has it. But maybe they could invent a universal machine that could check for blood levels of every single AED but as I said already that would cost allot to buy and even more to invent.

the levels being tested for diabetics is basically SUGAR levels which is easy to test for. With dilantin they have several things to be tested considering where the levels are in a persons body.  there are many people needing to test their blood levels. There are a lot of people with epilepsy which I do know. However there are  many different AED's compared to a few medicatins to control a persons blood level
