seizure help

Mon, 09/03/2007 - 07:23
hey guys i need a tiny bit of help , IF some one has epilepsy is it likely that only one thing can lead to seizures , OR is it inevitable that a seizure will come due to other factors ? Also can people actually recover from being seizure prone if the right things are done over a certain amount of time ?

These are pretty hard

These are pretty hard questions to answer, as each person is so different. Some people with epilepsy have very low seizure thresholds, and have multiple seizures every day no matter what. Others with epilepsy have higher thresholds and may be seizure free for long periods of time and only have certain triggers such as consuming alcohol or lack of sleep, etc. Avoiding these triggers may very well help to keep there seizures under control. It all depends on the individual. "Provoked" seizures are a different matter, and are caused by a variety of things such as excessive insulin in diabetics, drug abuse, etc. These types of seizures are not considered epilepsy and can be avoided by avoiding the provoking stimulus. Make sure and talk to your doctor about what you think the triggers are for your seizures, and how best to avoid them. Hope this helps.
