Seizure Disorders and "Cookie Cutter" Diagnose(s)

Sun, 08/20/2006 - 18:22
Hello, I am very new here. I had gone to another forum and they seemed to only favor 'One question/comment' posts, and somewhat made their posters feel uncomfortable about posting in fear of a "If your post wasn't so long maybe someone would reply" moderator response. First off, I just want to know if it is ok to post here even if you don't have Epilepsy. I have been diagnosed with it, but I honestly do not feel I have it. I know something is wrong with me, and would love to discuss why, etc. - but I just feel certain it's not Epilepsy. Thanks! -Ellie

Hi Ellie You have a question about your diagnoses, so I feel it is quite OK if you post a question here. Why do you feel that you do not have epilepsy? What type of symptoms do you have? Have you received treatment (ie:medication)? Has it relieved your symptoms? tlh64

((hug)) Good place to come, Ellie. Not everyone here has epilepsy. There are a lot of people in varying stages of epilepsy, from those who have it, to those who are in the process of diagnosis, to those who have been wrongly diagnosed, to those who want information so they can support their loved ones with it. Oh....and you're allowed to ask more than one question. ;)

Hi Ellie & Welcome... I have no idea how you can be so sure it isn't epilepsy, after an abnormal EEG, when there are over 40 types (as opposed to the tonic clonic seizures we see in movies). However, no worries. Your posts are welcome here and know we wish you the very best. ~sol
