Thu, 07/07/2016 - 20:02
Had EEG test for my wife. The doctor gave report as below "Abnormal EEG with interictal epileptiform discharge which occurred shortly after hyperventilation" . So does it mean only after hyperventilation, the technician was able to see epileptiform discharge? Does any normal person who hyperventilate don't see epileptiform discharge ? She had just one seizure. What sure we need to after this>? Please advice

"Abnormal EEG with interictal epileptiform discharge which occurred shortly after hyperventilation"   <<<The abnormal EEG showing epileptiform (aka seizure activity, spikes or waves)is what the neurologists are looking for. By knowing where they arecoming from the neurologist can also have an NRI dopne to see if anything is in that area of the brain. Anything is anything different then what the nornal brain has. Scar tissue foir me from a blow to my head knocking me out and causing a hemoragh to my brain, It could also be a brain cell that didn't complete growing or a deformity in the groth of that cell. Anything means anything that is different an any way.She just had one seizure..<<<<< have you read about all the diffferent types of seizures? Some are seconds long and most people would not know a person had them. The ones I have today last a couple of seconds and I can be infront of you and answering a questions and you wouldn't know I had it.Where was the EEG done and who wanted it done. That is where to start. If a doctor wanted it done then contact that doctor.
