New testing for epilepsy

Sun, 02/05/2017 - 17:17
I was diagnosed with complex partial 19 years ago. I was diagnosed through various EEG tests as an inpatient and outpatient. It took a long time to diagnose and I was eventually given medication. I have a colleague who informed me late last year that they were being tested for epilepsy with brain surgery being performed via their ear. Also they had been prescribed medication almost as soon as they had their first seizure. I suppose my real question is, am I being cynical or has diagnostic testing really become this invasive? They were back at work 4 days after this test and apparently the results are negative. By the way, they don't know my diagnoses, it's something I keep to myself and have shared with only those that need to know. Thank you for any clarification on this.
