NEW EEG???

Wed, 03/14/2007 - 11:56
Okay, so I had a second EEG done, and this one I'm thinking shows a lot of temporal lobe activithy, which is where I originally thought the siezures were. Anyways this is what it says: EEG was recorded in waking and natural sleep states. Photic stimulation and hyperventilation were performed. The waking background shows appropriate organization with clearly defined anterior-posterior voltage and frequency gradients. Posteriorly, there is well-diferentiated 10-hertz alpha rythm, which is symmetrical and shows normal reactivity. Anteriorly, there is the expected pattern of lower voltage and more irregular theta and beta rythms. Th responses to photic stimulaiton and hpyerventilation were unremarkable. There is evidence of frequent high diffuse high voltage sharply contoured 8 to 10-hertz rhythm at times with a frontal central predominance and at times in the temporal region, frequently with a left-sided predominance. This last from .5 to 1 second per episode and this is also seen during light sleep state, which is characterized by vertex of good symmetry and morphology. IMPRESSION: Abnormal EEG due to frequent diffuse higher voltage sharply contoured to 8 to 10-hertz rhythm at times with a frontal central predominance and at times in both temporal regions with a left-sided predominance. This finding is nonspecific and clinical correlation is advised WHAT?!?!?! The other one at least said, "You have epilepsy..." Is there anyone out there who can decode this for me?

The fact that the EEG was

The fact that the EEG was abnormal = a verdict of epilepsy. It also states that more tests are needed to convey specifically which areas of the brain are affected.
