NES

My daughter 19 has been bed ridden for sometime with a severe case of Lyme dsiease. Recently she began having seizures where she would shake violently, pass out and go incontinent. After having several of these episodes she was admitted to Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC. There she was hooked up to a VEEG and monitored for several days. During the hospitsl stay she never experienced a seizure. The doctors said she most likely had PseudoSeizures or NES non-epilectic seizures. They did not pescribe any medication for them. However, she was home no more than three days and she began having the seizures again. Now we don't know what to do. Has anyone been thru something like this before? Thanks

Many people on this forum have experienced the same frustrations. It is very common to have more seizures outside of the comfy and quite hospital bed. DO NOT assume that the seizures are NES. You need to see an epilepsy specialist for recommendations. He or she may decide to do an ambulatory EEG (one that is done at home) or start medication. Doctors tend not to take Lyme disease seriously, which is probably part of the problem. You should see a Lyme specialist as well.
