Lost medical records

I went to a new nero and she gave me hope which is something I haven't had in many years. She talked to me about getting a vns implant which I got very excited over. I had went to Ohio State about 10 years ago to their monitoring unit had seizures while they taped them.I also was their guenia pig for 2 years.I was finally told I was not a candidate for surgery and I took it very hard. From the start I have had a hard time excepting my seizures. Anyways I quit going to Ohio State and just let my regular doctor give me my meds.So when I went to the new doctor to save time we needed my records from OSU.She called me Friday and they said they have know info on me. So she said I have to do the unit all over again to prove I have epilepsy so I can get this inplant.I am soooo upset for alot of reasons mainly because we take care of my mother in law because she is blind and I can't seem to find anyone to stay with her for the 3 to 5 days we need to be gone. All I need is those records and I wouldn't have to go through this again. Stopping my meds and laying in that hospital bed waiting to have a seizure is horrible for me.I am having know luck with meds at all and my seizures are actually getting worse for me.I just can't believe a hospital could lose inportant info like that.I have know clue to to contact about this but I think someone needs to find my records and be quick about it. Anyways thanks for letting me vent. Barb

I would contact the hospital that has supposedly lost your records and start threatening lawsuits if they do not provide you with the documents. My understanding is they are required to have your records. They may just be being lazy because it is ten years ago they need to hunt for.

Make sure that YOU have a copy this time, so you don't have to worry about someone else loosing them. Also, the person who you talked to could have been a total air head and gotten your name spelled wrong or something, so call up and bug them to dig the records up.
