Hypoglycemia or Something Else?

Mon, 05/30/2016 - 22:58
I have had hypoglycemic episodes in the past that have sometimes brought me close to unconsciousness. However, during one episode six years ago, I actually did pass out, and I woke up to find that i had experienced a violent seizure that fractured my sacrum in two places. Two weeks of bed rest and physical therapy later, I was able to walk again. I followed up with a neurologist a few weeks later, and nothing abnormal showed up on my EEG. Ever since my seizure, I have made sure to keep food nearby and to NEVER EVER drink coffee without food. Yesterday, I felt very anxious (I also have panic disorder), and it felt like hypoglycemia. I nearly passed out earlier in the day, but a granola bar rescued me. No matter what I or how much of it I ate, I couldn't seem to shake the anxiety/low blood sugar feeling. Later in the evening, I was sitting at my computer and had a full-on seizure. The paramedics tested my blood glucose, and it registered at 111, which isn't very low. I did not check my glucose all during the day yesterday, but now I am curious if it was hypoglycemia after all. Could this feeling have actually been the first signs that I should be worried about a seizure, as opposed to simple hypoglycemia? What sort of diagnostics should look into?

Some hypoglycemia symptoms

Some hypoglycemia symptoms are* Hunger or nausea•Sweating more than usual•Anxiety, confusion, or changes in behavior•Fast heartbeat•Weakness•Blurred visionAll of which can be seizures or parts of seizures. Neurologists do have a patient take a EEG. But for a lot of people with epilepsy their EEG's have come back normal. I myself had 20-25 different EEG's all come back normal. The one that showed abnormalities is one in which I fell asleep in.You had a sizure which is fine. People can have a seizure from many dofferent thngs so they did what they were to do. However according to your post you had anothr seizure yesterday. So now yo uhave had 2 seizures. All it takes do diagnose epilepsy is 2 seizures. What you need to do is take the information from the ER and the information from the EMT (paremedics) and call the neurologist and let them see the information. You now have had seizures and for many people their seizures got more rapid and stronger without treatment. If you go to the help section and read about the different types of seizures then you will see evrything you posted in some seizures or see the seizure itself.Call the neurologist and discuss this issue with them. I hope this helps you and you get the assistance you needJoe
