help?

i am new to this site but i joined up because i thought someone could give me a bit of advice. when i was younger, (i think it start when i was 7 or 8?) i used to faint/pass out every few months, and i would be given some kind wanring before hand, the feeling was always the same so i knew it was coming. doctors did countless tests, EEG's, the sleep deprivation one, and it come out that i apparently had epilepsy. i was young and i didn't know any other details other than i supposedly had it now that i am older (16) the fainting hasn't happened for years, and i assumed i must have been misdiagnosed. although at school this year we have been learning about petit mal siezures, or absences seizures, and i was suprised to discover that a similar thing happens to me. i have been known to 'phase out' or stare off into space quite often, in the middle of conversations with people and then snap out of it and continue talking as if nothing has happened, it happens quite often and my friends and i often joke about it. are these absence seizures? does anyone have any advice for me, or does anyone think i might actually have epilepsy after all?

if they did countless tests and you were told you had epilepsy when you were diagnosed with it. talk to your mom or dad about that. now what you are expreiencing sound like abscence seizures. i t is important to talk to your parents about this so you can get to a neuro to be reavaluated. it is really important so dont put it off! hugs, banffgirl

wow, thankyou for that :) i spoke to my mum about it, i asked her about what actually did happen when i was younger and she said they thought i had epilepsy because i returned abnormal EEG's that indicated i might have it. and i told her about the possible absense seizures and she seemed fairly concerned and told me let her know when /if it was happening and she would take me back to the doctor.... although the possibly absence seizures don't really affect me all that much, would the doctor still put me on medication or something? ahhh i can't help but worry... and again, thankyou so much for your reply i appreciate it
