To have an EEG or not?

Fri, 03/04/2016 - 16:12
A little background diagnosed as a child with temporal lobe epilepsy. Was able to go off medication as a teenager. Seizures came back at 22 but were never able to be confirmed as epilepsy. Went off meds again for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Now my kids are a little older and the seizures have returned. Is it worth it to get an EEG to try and confirm or should I just take my medicine and be content or do I need to know what is causing the seizures?

It is all up to you and your neurologist. If the medications helped control your seizures then yes take the meds. You will find out that many people here have had EEG's and they all came back normal. I had 20-25 do that before I fell asleep in one. The one I fell asleep in showed them where in my brain the electrical impulses are hitting wrong.
