EEGs and Valium

Fri, 08/10/2007 - 13:39
Hello, Yesterday I had an appointment with my neurologist as well as an EEG. He came in and told me that my EEG showed no activity - a first in a long time for me. I informed him that the night before I had taken five milligrams of Valium, and he told me that he "saw that too" but that it would not have affected any spikes showing up. Is this true? Does anyone have any information on this? Thank you, J

hi j, well i think you might need a new neuro. my epi spec put me on 5 mg of diazapam which is same as valuim to calm my brain activity, after having a bad seizure t/c in a store and the another one the next day where my husband couldnt wake my up from so he called the ambulance cuz of the head injury the day before. er called my epi spec the 2nd visit, and he wanted to put me on it to calm my brain waves down since i have been having a lot of seizures lately. i have constant brain activity, uncontrolable epilepsy. so i would go by what my epi spec says over any doc. hadnt had a t/c since started it, just the usual smaller ones. so it has helped so it does affected brain waves. hope this helps. good luck anffgirl
