eeg tech did a lot of clicking

Thu, 04/02/2015 - 13:10
Hello all! Today I had my first eeg I actually managed to stay awake through. I was diagnosed back in 2007 with frontal lobe epilepsy after abnormalities were found during my eeg in the left frontal and temporal lobe and right temporal. I had a complex partial on the 31st. Today, during my test I noticed the eeg tech was clicking the mouse on the computer a lot during my test. I know he was typing in comments and clicking for when I swallowed or cleared my throat, but he was clicking a lot when I wasnt doing anything at all. Any idea what the clicking indicates? I didn't seize during my testing at all. Not that I'm concerned too much, just curious. All he told me was "we got a pretty good readout today"- but I know that, being a tech, he's not allowed to tell me anything.

All he did while talking to

All he did while talking to you was tell you how things came out. Which didn't tell you a diagnosis or if it was normal of abnormal.   I didn't seize during my testing at all <<< a peson doesn't have to have a seizure for the eeg to show seizure activity. Relax the tech was doing what they are supposed to. There are many different sections in the EEG and each needs to be checked for different things so they do type or mark or use their mouse to do thngs on teh paper the eeg is printong out. Understand that the EEG is basically showing the electrical impulses comming from the brain.  abnormalities were found during my eeg in the left frontal and temporal lobe and right temporal <<< those are reading from the neurologist. However the tech does see them and may put marks by them. Something like a wave or a spike which is abnormal. By looking at where they show up or come from the diagmosis is made. Joe
