My EEG results read "no focal changes seen, but several bursts of high amplitude, generalized slowing is seen" Can anyone tell me what this means? Thanks!

It's hard to find info on EEG reports out there! A "focal" abnormality is one that is localized or emanates from a specific brain region (for example, the left temporal lobe, as in my case). I have a "focal slowing" (which means the waveforms have lower-than-expected frequency right in one area), as well as "slow waves" in the temporal lobe. Since your EEG shows "generalized" slowing, I would guess they saw brief stretches of lower-than-expected frequency, but not coming repeatedly from any one specific spot. Same with the bursts, apparently. Oddly enough, a manual on EEG equipment helped me understand some of the terms. It's at: http://www.telemedx-corp.com. Then choose "protocol manual" and browse to your heart's content. The manual shows lots of pictures of EEGs. (I put my EEG report up in my blog just for grins.) Good luck on finding answers! :)
