Drop attacks or something else?

Fri, 10/12/2007 - 18:58
Hi all... Several months ago, I started passing out for 2-3 minutes at a time with no warning signs and was completely fine afterwards. Literally just dropped like a rag doll for a few minutes. It happened maybe once every 10-15 days and the only pattern I could find was it was late at night or early in the morning. To make a long story short, I was told they were drop attacks and the low Topamax dose seems to have stopped them. But I am 29 and I can't find anything to indicate that this should happen at my age without other seizure activity or that drop attacks happen like this. Anybody have any ideas or thoughts? Thanks!

See a doctor who specializes in epilepsy for an evaluation! Glad the Topamax is working.

I would make an appointment to see a neuro or epi-specialist. My son is 2 and has about 200+ drop attacks on daily basis. His attacks only last 5-15 seconds. I have not heard of a drop attack lasting longer than 30 seconds. Take care, Michelle
