Does he have epilepsy?

My father has complaints of sudden real strong deja-vus, along with strange and strong smells (reminding him of an electrical outlet on fire). He says he gets dizzy, as if hes fainting, and has to sit down for a while, then when the view clears a little bit he gets a massive headache. He has this from once a week to a few times a month, but only for the last three or four months or so, exactly the time he started gettting other health problems. He had this problem too about 10 years ago, also around the time he had other healthissues. Both ten years ago and now, he has (amongst other things) problems with his back/spine. A neurologist gave him an EEG, she did not find anything, but isn't telling him anything further. To me (a student in neuropsychology) this sounds like temporal lobe epilepsy, perhaps brought on by (the stress of) his health issues (and there's lots of other stress in his life too), which ten years ago went away when his health got better. Since the EEG did not point to epilepsy, should I still worry? I have heard (on this forum and elsewhere) that NOT finding it with an EEG does not necessarily mean that he has no epilepsy, and that some doctors stop too early sometimes when they see that the EEG does not show evidence enough of epilepsy. And I cannot think of anything else that this could mean. Is there another way besides EEG, that they can research if there is epilepsy involved? What else could it be? Thanks, G

Reading some more posts here makes me think of TLE even stronger. Like some of the posters here he also feels like throwing up (sometimes does), spitting/drooling and he also feels real strong emotions. That last one was ascribed by the doctors to a thyroid problem.
