different types of 48 hour eegs

Sun, 04/08/2007 - 11:50
Two months ago I had a seizure that was witnessed by a fellow passenger and a flight attendant but was not fully described to me (had I only known what to ask!); a subsequent 1/2 hour eeg was abnormal but inconclusive for epilepsy. In my search for information/a doctor with whom I feel comfortable, I have had a 48 hour eeg recommended. One doctor ordered an at-home eeg, another in hospital. In-hospital doctor disdains at-home technology as "20 years out of date" and "inferior," but from what I've read on line-here, many people get more information from the at-home tests. Any thoughts or advice? Also, I had abnormally low potassium 3 hours after the seizure, so low that I was given a prescription for five days. Three doctors have three different opinions about that. Has anybody had that as part of their work-up?
