diagnosing auditory triggers to seizures

Sun, 10/26/2014 - 17:07

my daughter has been battling an undiagnosed disorder for the last 20 months.  We had the million dollar workup and seizures were inconclusive although we believe this is what we are battling.  Originally thought is was exercise induced but after being treated with 3 different seizure meds over 5 months with no improvement in her symptoms she was taken off all the neuro drugs and was diagnosed with dysautonomia. She was treated with cardiac meds for 3 months with no improvement. She is now on no meds but continues to suffer symptoms with ambient noise - busy school hallways, restaurants, carnivals, loud clasrooms, buses full of high school students.  Her symptoms are tunnel vision, "fogginess", extreme fatigue, trouble focusing.  She has had 4 EEG's, 2 MRI's, 2 cardiac stress tests/Echocardiogram, VER's and auditory evoked responses, genetic and neuropsych testing and nothing conclusive.  She is now confident that her symptoms are results of seizures but we have not had any EEG done with auditory triggers.  We have been told to see a psychiatrist but neigher of us feel this is the route to success.  We would like to consider an EEG done with an auditory component that could simulate what we think are the triggers, or an ambulatory one that she can wear in these environments.  Looking for any advice. We live near Boston and have had all this workup done at TUFTS and Children's Hospital Boston.  Wondering if anyone knows of anything at MEEI to investigate a different kind of workup?  Anyone with a similar story?  So frustrating and worrisome as we contemplate upcoming graduation and move off to college.  She also particpates in martial arts and wrestling.  Tough environments with the sound issue during meets as they are very loud and enclosed spaces.  Wrestling season quickly approaches and as she is in 3 AP classes we are cautious about all the symptoms building up to make her schoolwork suffer.  Any advice is appreciated. Just don't know what else to do.
