bitemporal abnormalities - epilepsy?

Thu, 04/12/2007 - 13:52
following a 90hr VEEG the report said "the interictal EEG shows independent bitemporal abnormalities, more marked on the right. Focal discharges are mostly located in the anterior-mid temporal regions, sometimes extending to involve the posterior temporal lobes" this was taken as a confirmed diagnosis of epilepsy by the leading consultant - now there seems to be some doubt in the mind of the local consultant managing my care since the meds have reduced the seizure frequency but not completely stopped them. Also he witnessed an episode which he thought not to be an epileptic one - I also have vasovagal syncope. queries: 1) Are "bitemporal abnormalities" the same as "bitemporal epileptiform abnnormalities"? 2) Is the above VEEG result epilepsy or not? Thanks - suemdan
