Beta blockers and myoclonus...clue?

Mon, 04/10/2006 - 09:43
Hello all, I previously posted the thread "Should I even bother checking this out?" and well, I went in to see a doctor finally. She referred me to a neuro I am seeing on the 21st but in the meantime, she put me on a beta blocker for my migraines. Funnily, it seems to have given me a permanent headache (which is apparently common) but on the upside, it seem to have dampened my attacks. I've only been on it 3 days now so can't give any real percentages, but it certainly feels as if there is at least a 40% or more reduction in my myoclonic attacks. After some research, I have learned beta blockers are given for tremors in allot of cases, as well as for migraines. I don't know if this new doc intended for this to happen as she only said she was giving me something for migraine, but i'm happy for the side effect nonetheless. My question is, since I know I respond at least in part to beta blockers for my spasms, does that point to any DX? As I said, I am seeing the neuro on the 21st and would like to come armed with as much knowledge as possible, even if I do have to play dumb, at least I should know what he is talking about. I'd really like to know what this might mean, if anything. So, if anyone here knows about beta blockers and tremors/myoclonus, I would love any insight you can give. Thanks in advance, Spiraldreams

BTW, I should mention this is a period in the month where I normally have a lower incidence of attacks, so this could be coincidental, but it certainly feels a bit different.
