Appointment TUESDAY (tomorrow), what to ask.

Mon, 11/20/2006 - 09:17
I have an appointment with my family doctor tomorrow. My husband is coming with me. I need help directing the appointment. The appointment was originally to discuss painful nosebleeds, but now it is to discuss whatever it was that happened on Friday. My husband is going to come with me. I'm frustrated and getting no where. My journalling is being ignored, and I can't even tell anymore what a seizure is. Not all of the odd feelings and ringing and memory issues and visual distortions can be seizures. If so, I'm having seizures every day. So I just can't believe it. I'm sure soemthing would have shown up on my EEG. Please. I need to know what to ask. I need to know how to direct the conversation. If I do not ask and insist and direct, the appointment will end and I will not have my questions answered. Please help me.

Mouzie, Has any physician

Submitted by wldhrt13 on Mon, 2006-11-20 - 10:29
Mouzie, Has any physician ever suggested the possibility of HHT (Hereditary Hemorraghic Telangiectasia)? it's rare, but when you mentioned nosebleeds and all your other neurological symptoms, I thought about it as a possibility. If you haven't had an MRA, which is different from MRI in that; it looks only at the blood vessels of the brain not the white matter etc... It is possible with HHT to have a cerebral AVM (Arterial Venous Malformation) and not know it. That's just one very rare possibility that could be causing your symtpoms. Here is a website for you to look over: http://www.hht.org/web/what_is_hht/overview.asp

No one has ever suggested that to me. To be honest, the whole article was a bit over my head. After finding out about the sinus cysts, I just assumed the nosebleeds were related to that. I'm not sure how to bring that up. I know that if I go in and ask my doctor to be screened for thus-and-such rare condition, he will refuse it.

Hi Mousie, I quickly went back through some of your blog, and found where your EEG was normal, but didn't see MRI results (I'm sure you posted it, but I can't find it). 1.Have you had a VEEG? If not, it needs to be done 2.Are you seeing an epileptologist? If not, you need to try to get your family doctor, or neuro, to refer you. 3.Has anyone done a blood level check for the Dilantin? If not, ask doc to do so 4.You certainly need to tell doc about nosebleeds, and suggest the test recommended above 5. have you gone thru your journal, and taken the questions out of there that you want answered? Write them down, and take them with you, and don't leave until you have asked them I wish I could be more helpful to you, and wish you the best of luck with your appt. tomorrow.
