Am I having seizures or do I have epilepsy?

Thu, 03/16/2006 - 13:53
I was in a car wreck a year ago. I was doing 85 mph at impact. About 2 or 3 days later I started having these violent mucle twitches throughout every muscle imaginable. All I could do was just lay there. I didnt know what was going on I was still pretty disoriented from the wreck and stuck in jail for a DUI where no-one cared to get me medical help. Over a year later and I still have episodes not real bad but muscle twitches in my legs and arms mainly. It is usually worse when I am real tired. My husband dont want me to see a neurologist but I made the appointment and scared to find out whats going on really. Could I have epilepsy?

Hi - I'm sorry to hear you are having these episodes, and I can imagine that they are very scary for you. Although I can't tell you if you have epilepsy, I can say that I think you are doing the right thing by seeing a neurologist. Prior to the appointment, you might consider keeping a journal of the incidents, and what was happening around the time you experience them. Things such as being overly tired, lack of sleep, any over the counter drugs you took, etc. This will give the neurologist some basic information to begin helping you to find answers. Best of luck to you, and keep us posted, okay?
