It Wasn't My Life

It wasn’t my life.
It didn’t belong to me.
My mind and the world,
Were so foreign to me.
It wasn’t my life.
To live in fear.
For every daily activity,
Would result in a tear.
It wasn’t my life.
To be treated so bad.
Doctors dismissed me,
They assumed I was just sad.
It wasn’t my life.
The storm in my brain.
The sensations, the terror,
Left so much pain.
It wasn’t my life.
That I once knew.
A happy teenager,
That was the last I ever knew.
It wasn’t my life.
To fall so low.
Feelings of helplessness,
I saw my nightmares grow.
It was my life.
It is now in the past.
Recognition and understanding,
Was all that I asked.
This is my life.
I have grown and learnt.
That faith in myself,
Is not a life hurt.
This is my life.
For I now understand.
That this was my path,
Just not the one I had planned.
This is my life.
For all the pain and suffering,
I am stronger now.
The future looks bright, even with Epilepsy.

Awesome poem! It gives me hope and acceptance that my life is in God's Hands. My life is not set in stone or I wouldn't be alive. Keep on writing. You are inspiring.
