I am a game developer, and I'm concerned about my players.

I'm learning to make video games, and I'm still relatively new to the field, and haven't released any yet. However, several of my friends have epilepsy. To the best of my knowledge none of them are photosensitive, however I am concerned about people who play my game who may be photosensitive. My goal isn't to completely eliminate the risk of seizures while playing the game, but rather mitigate this risk as much as possible without hurting the quality of the game. I also understand that there isn't much research done regarding video games and triggers. This would probably be an optional setting, so if players without epilepsy prefer certain effects they can turn them off and on.

Would running the game at higher framerates (assuming there is no flashing) reduce the risk of a seizure, for example 60fps vs 30fps?
For effects like muzzle flares, would fading the effects in and out over several frames reduce risk?
For effects like lasers which appear for only a few frames, would making them transparent reduce risk?

It seems pretty clear that flashing lights and quick transitions in contrast and color are linked to seizures, so effects like whole screen flashing and jitters in the graphics would be optional, and removed pretty easily. Also the game would still have a warning attached to it. I wouldn't want to mislead people into thinking the game was %100 safe, especially since I can't be certain.
