drugs questions (mushrooms)

Its seems as though no one has started a disscussion on th positive and negative effects of marajuana(If any). As well as the bodys reaction to other drugs(mushrooms). Not to exclude anyone but if you have teperal lobe damage your info would be much apprieciated. In my own personal expereance I can say without a shodow of doubt that marajuana kept me seizure free for 3 years, however I Did have a seizure when I abrubtly quit after 3 years of daily or near daily usage. Now analyzing this info is simple enough, If you stop taking your seizure medication you will have one. Now this is where many conclusions can be drawn, and differences in individual resonses to drugs can be seen. Please feel free to post your info.                                                                                               If anyone has experiance with epilepsy and mushrooms  please post your info good or bad and it will be recieved with gratitude.

PS keep this disscussion as professional as possible

yep good old marijuana and mushrooms are GREAT for seizures and the brain! Drugs are especially good for learning areas of the brain. Like for SPELLING. Drugs ARE NOT good for your brain even PERSCRIBED ones! Reading painting walking talking singing learning those are good for your brain! Take care of yourself and that brain of yours! It's the only one you've got!Stefany

Actually there is a very long thread, and informative, about marijuana used as a drug for reducing seizures. can't remember the name of it though. I was a hospice nurse for several years and my post on that thread states how we used marijuana, later the active ingredient THC, for medical situations that no other main stream drug did work for. I did try marijuana. I'm intractable and I've said it before, I'll say it again, if I could find almost anything to stop seizures even if it was wormy dirt - I'd EAT IT! Unfortunately for me marijuana was a disaster.BUT, correct me if I'm wrong, marijuana relaxes. Mushrooms are hallucenogenics such as LSD. I have enough sensory hallucinations from epilepsy and certainly want no more. I have not heard of mushrooms being used for epilepsy but then there's a lot I haven't heard about either. One of my children lives in the SW of the US where mushroom use is abundant. She said it is akin to taking LSD. A hallucinogenic. She has not tried it but some of her friends in their younger years did and she said it terrified her the "trips" they took and the length of time it lasted. She also said that annually in her area there are deaths from people going out and plucking the wrong types of mushrooms, ingesting, that are fatal. Makes one pause. But if someone has tried mushrooms and had seizure reduction? I'd like to know about it. I doubt thought it'd be something I'd try. I'm too chicken.Gretchen

Ummm should I admit to this? Yeah ok, I am not ashamed of my past. Yes I took "shrooms" back in the 70's, I also took Acid (LSD). Yes Gretchen mushrooms are a halucinogenic. I also had a VERY BAD Cocaine habit. And I drank ALOT of Alcohol. I wasn't diagnosed with Epilepsy at the time though. I do know that I only had pleasant "trips" although I do know of some people that had "issues', something about being a lump on a log, and not being able to undo her zipper to go potty is one that comes to mind. Me I laughed my head off...it seems everything was funny to me.My Hubby swears it was my previous drug use that makes me have my seizures now. Yeah I don't think so...but one wonders.I also smoked pot back in the early 70's and stopped cause it hurt my throat. But I would gladly start again if I thought it would stop the pain of my migraines and stop the seizures. But since I am one of those people, Now that I am older, that doesn't do anything illegal (not that I will think anything less of anyone that does smoke pot, I have family members that do)...I guess I will have to wait to see what the Med community comes up with.
