Thu, 07/14/2005 - 16:43
Hi, Does anyone know what doses of Vitamin B6 and Calcium can be given to a 7 year old? I thought i would give it a try for him, He has polymorphic refractory epilepsy and since he has started on Keppra he has got worse. And he is like a zombie, really not with us at all. Is there any other vitamins and minerals that work? any suggestions welcome. bless you all. susan

Please be careful, there is a fine line between recommended doses, and taking too much. Over here we have a government publicity campaign going, because of the rise in serious health problems as a result of vitamin supliments. The best way to increase vitamin and mineral intake is to eat the correct food, rather than popping pills.

In Europe the law makers have just added some vitamin supliments to those requiring a doctors prescription.

He could be low on calcium, magnesium, b and b complex  all can cause seizures. ALso omega three fatty acids has helped me. And we need good fats for our brain too. I have someone in my group who has become seizure free from b complex. I have had alot of success with omega three.
