Chiropractors?

Sat, 08/01/2009 - 14:48

Has anyone tried this? How did it go. I've heard that having adjustments has helped some people dramatically.  I even read this in an epilepsy textbook online. On another website there was a story about a girl who had multiple grand mals a day and they were stopped.

I don't knowwhat the science behind it is, exactly. Something to do with the spine affecting nerves. But they don't even always know the mechanism of action with regard to the drugs. I'm going to make an appointment for the upcoming week.

It varies from chiropractor to chiropractor.  I have good luck w./ one who was gentle and not aggressive.  The other one seemed to want my insurance.  I felt the first was positive and it was great and went back to that one and suggested to eat the right amt. of veg. and fruit and worked w/ my Epileptologist and had the best results.

I have an 8 year old grandson who first started having seizure 4 years ago. It has significantly affected his development and his behaviour. He has been on the ketogenic diet for at least three years, and is also taking many prescribed medicines. Unfortunately, he still has seizures, although not as often but still daily. he has a team of health care providers at a prestigius medical center; however , he has never tried chiropracty.

What has been your experience? Have you had others relate to you their experiences, positive or negative?

I did this for quite awhile and am thinking of going back. It was very helpful at first, and less helpful when she did the adjustments less often.  Or more likely, it's just done all it can for me.  I think I only had one or two sz's when I was going all the time.  The biggest benefits, though, were not sz related. I just felt a lot better overall. I was v. depressed when I started going and after she did a few adjustments I wasn't anymore. I really recommend trying it.   Some insurance even covers it. It's weird, my insurance paid for more of that than it has for some medication.
