Tue, 05/24/2005 - 13:49

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if ANYONE has advice on what to do about the loss of sex drive from these dammed seizure meds.

I am 44, have had a hysterectomy and on Carbitrol.  I have NO sex drive at all.  Does anyone have advice????

Please help!

Hi Everyone!

This is my first time posting but I've been trying to read alot about this issue.  I am having the same issues as what I've been reading. (and maybe some others)  I can get sexually arroused, but sex just doesn't last long at all.  Barely five minutes! (If I'm lucky.)  I feel very sensitive during sex and have an orgasm almost right away.  After that I'm spent for the night. :(  My girlfriend is very frustrated with it and so am I.  My seizures aren't stopping; I have at least 3 a night.  On top of that, our sex life is terrible. My hair is thinning too, and I read that Depakote could cause that, though I'm sure it's just genetics LOL.

I'm currently taking Divalproex (Depakot), Carbamazepine (Tegretol XR), and Lamotrigine

Could any of these medications be at the root of my sexual issues?

Orgasm

If you have never had one, I'd get a real good vibrator just to prove to yourself that you can. Then you train your partner. You don't want to miss out on that if you don't have to. Relax, be alone. Think of it as a back massage.
