Can seizures cause orgasms?

Tue, 04/26/2005 - 09:02

I know there have been discussions of orgasm or sexual activity causing seizures.  But can seizures cause orgasms?

I have on numerous occasions had a spontaneous orgasm in my sleep --without any physical stimulation.  In my sleep state I almost always am aware a few seconds before what is going to happen and I try to stop it, because it is actually rather uncomfortable, causing very strong, almost painful contractions, and also resulting in my having to get up to go to the bathroom to urinate.  Very annoying.

Does anyone have this happen?  Is it possibly a seizure?

I have never heard of this, I guess it could be possible depending on where in the brain the seizure is!!Some people do have orgasms at night, depending on dreams....this is embarassing but I find I have had a few at night (orgasms).

I have never had the pleasure of this, that I remember, during a seizure. But if this is a side-effect, I'm all for it. This would be the only positive side effect of epilepsy I have come across yet. (Pardon the pun)

I have TLE and both simple and complex partial seizures. This actually happened to me for the first time TODAY, but I wasn't sleeping. I was totally AWAKE while it happened. It was definitely an unnerving experience to say the least. But after doing some research and speaking to a friend, I discovered that it's much more common than people think. It goes unreported a lot because people are too embarrassed to discuss it with their doctors. I found this article during my research. I don't know what kind of epilepsy you have but i hope this helps! http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ert/2012/751510/
