What goes on during a seizure? Do you remember anything/does it hurt?

Fri, 04/13/2007 - 22:35
My six year old has generalized Tonic clonic, Drop attack, Myoclonic...Seizures. I just want to know what she is going through. I hurts terribly to see her have seizures but her neuro says they don't hurt and she doesn't remember anything. Is this true, because she appears to be in physical pain and most of the time she screams during them. Aferwards she cries and appears scared.

What can I say autumn18?

What can I say autumn18? Other than appreciated you appreciated what I had to say. Posted by you with such a generosity of spirit when you did too..... Sometimes its easy to read something and say 'well that was interesting, I have to go pay the bills or go get the kids ready to see the next match, film' ... Or whatever seems more important at the time... I appreciate too... Not all teens grow up protected from the dangers there are in the world... Some really go out of their way looking for it, you have to face up to that.... Then wonder when they do they feel like a complete klutz when tired from the effects of whatever it is that gives them that high.... Again, something to be faced up too ... High levels of anxiety can have an effect upon the system that can really knock a person sideways. As can the impact of the seizure feeling less than themselves. More so when in the midst of wondering if their titration rate is at the right rate and needs to be slower. Its nice to know things are changing out in the world and that in future people such as yourself won't have to go out into the world and hate seizure effects experienced as a teenager continuing thru life. Or even wonder about the impact of them... Its also nice to know that good research is being done that shows the true picture of living with epilepsy... One that will last.... One of the most difficult aspects of living with epilepsy is the uncertainty of when a seizure is going to occur. Surveys and studies report a high level of anxiety about seizures among people of all ages, even when it has been some time since any seizure activity has taken place http://www.epilepsyfoundation.org/epilepsyusa/predict.cfm Hang in there. Stay strong and upbeat. It helps... Cat. "Many false prophets are gone out into the world." 1 John 4:1
