I was wondering if anyone had any experience of the drug interactions between St John's Wort. I get seasonal depression but i still have to take carbamazepine to control my seizures. Thanks

It is very dangerous mixing epilepsy meds and any herbal medicine. SHould talk with a doctor before mixing. http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/alternative_stjohns.html Look into cutting back on sugar, and caffiene and have your thyroid checked. For sometimes that can be the cause of depression. Talk with your doctor about b vitamins instead. Much safer take care Lisa http;//health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/

I disagree. Carbamezapine made me anxious (i was on it for 9 years) and I took St. John's Wort and it really took the edge off. I'm all for it! I now take Topamax and I'm off Carbamezapine so I am much more calm so I don't need the St. John's Wort. I do recommend it though. All the best!
