Zonisamide / Zongran

Mon, 02/13/2006 - 06:51
I am about to start taking zonisamide later this week in addition to lamictal. The side-effects of zonisamide seem awful, the one I do want is the lack of appetite and weight loss, but the others I can do without! Anyone on zonisamide? Helen

Hi, I just started Zonegran on 4/08/14 and seemed to be doing better than I was on dopamax I mean Topamax. One Q I have is for the females anybody had period problems??? cramps?? I seem to be very sensitive to side effects but all I have noticed so far is heavy period cramps, kinda hoping its just some leftover effects of Topamax. Thanks for any help!!!

Helen B, I also have Epilepsy and im on zonegran weight loss and appetite is not good we have to keep up our strength to keep going, I know the side affects are awful, and our body has to get use to all the meds and some times it feels like there is no end, but take it from some one who has been there, when i found this site a lot of people have been very helpful and listen with their heart, i would be lost so please hang in there there is a med that is right for you.

Hi Helen, I takeZonegran/Zonisamide. I have been on a few others that simply did not work for me, for one reason or another. Topomax, Depakote, Carbamazepine. Anyway, I thought I would let you know. Yes it does supress my appetite, and yes I have lost some weight on it...well actually quite a bit of weight on it, so you do need to make sure you eat, and drink LOTS of water. But other than that I feel great. If you have any questions let me know. Dayna
