Weird Taste

Tue, 10/11/2005 - 18:35
Hi Everyone, Ok, this is going to sound weird but for the last 24 hours I have had a strange taste in my mouth. Just to give you some background I have never had a seizure in my sleep before, I have never bitten my tongue in my sleep nor have I had a funny taste. I have partial seizures secondarily generalized seizures (grand mal) and each time I have bitten my tongue. Over the last few days I have been waking myself up biting my tongue. Nothing major but a painful nip at the back of my tongue. I woke up this morning and as soon as I opened my eyes I felt nauseous (Whenever I have had a seizure in the past I always feel nauseous and then have a tonic seizure, and for a few hours after I also feel incredibly nauseous). I can't quite pinpoint it but the taste I have in my mouth can only be described as something like honeysuckle. I also bit my tongue again in my sleep (Which woke me up again...how inconvenient!!!!) That's two nights in a row. In total I have done this 6 times in the last 8 weeks. It's seriously disturbing my beauty sleep! Has anyone ever experienced any of this before? Jenny

Hi Lisa, Thanks for replying, so I am not mad after all??? You will probably read from another post that my Doctor believes that I am having seizures in my sleep. My medication has been increased at night time to see if this will help. My tongue feels a little tingly down one side this morning but I can't see any further damage other than the bite marks I had from a couple of days ago? I was thinking......you know how people have tummy tucks and things like that? Do you think it would be feasible to have a tongue tuck? Just a thought :-) Anyway, thanks again for your advice. Jenny
