Smoking cigarettes and seizures....

Sat, 07/30/2005 - 00:07
I've been a smoker for about 13 years or so now. I'm not a heavy smoker by any means, and I go through a pack every 3-4 days. I just wanted to find out from "other smokers" on this site or any non-smokers who even may know....Does smoking affect epilepsy at all?

I have smoked for longer than I have had seizures and it is about all I can do, ya know!!!! But no I havn't noticed any difference and the neurologist have never told me to quit they just say don't smoke when your having seizure due to you can burn your home down, otherwise they didn't say it causes anything. I get migraines but Iv'e had them for 23 year also so I don't think that has anything to do with smoking either. It calms me and releives stress for me.Pam

Why did you think it affected your seizures? I am glad I releived you!! Ha Ha I am sure if you ask your doctor he or she will tell you the same thing. Of course they will tell you to quit like all Doctors do but I'm sure they will reassure you that it doesn't cause seizures to come. LOLTalk to ya laterPam
