Hey,
I've been on Keppra for about 6 months now. My diag. (as far as I know and understand) is Simple Partial (focused) Epilepsy that is causes temporal lobe seizures. My electrical mishap (as shown in my SD eeg) is in such a place in my brain that my sz's can range through the WHOLE spectrum of sz's in the SPE catergory. I've had really good luck with Keppra. My inital dose was 500 mg, twice daily and after a particularly nasty sz, it was doubled.
When I first started taking Keppra, I lost weight. After I got over the sleepies that accompany it, I just simply forgot to eat. When the intial side effects wore off, so did that forgetfulness. If you ask me it could have stayed as long as it likes. When my dose was doubled, the sleepies weren't as bad, but I still forgot to eat at times.
As for Keppra never being taken alone, yes it is b/c I take it as my only drug and haven't tried any other medications. Keppra has been good for me other than the need for my dose to be adjusted, I have only had two sz's while on Keppra (at 1000 mg), and haven't had any while taking 2000 mg.

Wow! Your medication list reads like mine. I'm 53 and have had seizures since I was 19. For 20+ years I was on Dilantin and Phenobaritol only, then my seizures started to become a regular thing at night and my medications changed. They all affected my weight. Since brain surgery in 2004, i've been having trouble with memory and depression. As of right now, i'm taking 2500mgs/day of Keppra only. I also know that my personality is different, more reserved. I've made an appointment to see a new neurologist. I'd appreciate feedback. Bill
