how do you know what type you have

Mon, 03/07/2005 - 00:54
I have had epilepsy since I was 3 and have no clues as to what type of epilepsy I have. I was told that I have petit mal seizures but they have since dissappeared and I still take my meds so that they dont come back. I take Zarontin.I am a 41 year old woman and hate to take pills, but i do so my seizures dont come back. I however have bouts where I shake, but the neurologist says that they are not seizures. then what are they? why do I shake?

Do you have tics or do you really shake? Take magnesium, calcium and vit d. My daughter has tics and that is what we give her it helps. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach/Lisa

Hi, I read your post about shaking/tics.  I'm not sure if this is what my son has, but in the morning when he first wakes up is when I notice his hands shake a little like when he is taking his meds and holding a glass of water is when I notice it.  Haven't mentioned it to the Neuro yet.

I think he has always had this even before Epilepsy.  He was diagnosed with E about 6 months ago is on Lamictal.  Any info on this or can anyone tell me if they have these symptoms as well.

Thanks,

Zach's mom
