seizures at night
Mon, 01/03/2005 - 18:50I have a question to ask anyone out there. I have complex partial seizures. I do not know what happened, but this morning I woke up and my back was killing me. I would like to know if it is possible if someone like myself could have a seizure at night, and hurt their back by doing something to it? Reason I ask this is because I did nothing that I can think of that would have hurt my back this much

Macdaddy,
For years I had seizures just about every time I took a nap. I would wake up feeling like I'd been hit by a truck. My hair would be all wierd from the electricity, my muscles and joints ached. I never bit my tongue too bad, though. Just lucky I guess. Some times I wake up in the morning with cuts or bumps because I get out of bed during the seizures, and my 100 year-old railroad flat is on about a 15 degree slant to the north, which keeps me bumping on the walls and things.
I have since stopped taking naps. I just sleep later. Even so, I still have my share of night seizures. My meds are 400mg Tegretol XR and 600mg Lamictal and 30mg clonazepam. It's been working well for quite ahile now. I began taking Lamictal when it was still experimental, and it's been a wonder drug for me.
Wish I could write longer, but I'm kind of tired tonight. My sister passed away just before Christmas and my sleeping schedule has been very erratic. So I know I'll be having a hefty CP soon.
Stay tuned.
Bob
