There is ALWAYS hope if you continue to search for answers! That you posted a message here means that you still have something to look forward to. If you are experiencing depression due to this condition, you should seek help right away. Depression is a deadly illness and the prescribed medication for it sometimes helps with my nighttime seizures. I hope I'm making sense here. You are a very important link in this forum's chain, because everyone has an opinion and knowledge to share. You do, too. I hope to see you back here and please tell us how you are doing.

Yes,there is always hope, and your answer summed it up.There is knowledge to share and ,you are making sense in all you say.Depression is a source of worry and should be looked at-in content regarding it being a contributing element in your life, seizure control can be hard to find without other influences being present that could be addressed.Read the links, and as jconstanz says seek help, and keep us posted as to your progress.www.epilepsy.org.uk/info/depression.html Biological causes of depression include such factors as changes in brain chemistry, hormonal effects, kindling (i.e. repeated sub-threshold stimulation), genetics, medical/neurological disorders and medication.2 It is felt, for instance, that people suffering from depression may have low levels of brain norepinephrine, serotonin or dopamine and medical treatment is aimed at trying to get these chemicals back into balance by antidepressant treatment. It is also felt that certain medical/neurological conditions such as infection and cancer can predispose one to depression, as can certain medications. Genetics certainly play a role and children of depressed parents are at a 10-15% risk for depression themselves.2 Twin studies show high concordance rates of up to 50% for monozygotic twins and 25% for dizygotic twins implicating genetic causes for depression.2 http://www.epilepsytoronto.org/people/eaupdate/vol9-4.html http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/research_suicidal_ideation.html
